Is fatherhood a model, a wish, a memory or simply a reality? Fathers in their absence and presence are at the center of Hennermann's Horde's current dance production for a mixed-age audience.
While the role of the mother tends to be in the foreground in social discourse, the concept of fatherhood often exists in the gap, determined by absence, work behavior or authority. We want to identify this gap, fill it, expose it to discussion and compare it with new models. To do this, we negotiate family situations and constellations on stage, rethink old and modern father models and look for images that capture the young people in their reality.
Four contemporary urban dancers address the topic and, along with it, the dance form hip hop with its image of entrenched rituals of masculinity that need to be represented and deconstructed.
The stage, with a single sofa as the focal point, serves as a living room, the center of a household, a retreat, a seating area, a family meeting place or becomes the default setting of the favorite sitcom. Everything is negotiated here and of course Darth Vader can't be missed either.
