In her new solo piece “Über die Wut” (On Anger), Anna Konjetzky investigates anger as an individual emotion and as a condition produced by social structures. A whole arsenal of personal, political and pop-cultural gestures of anger is dissected and thoroughly examined. Dancer Sahra Huby slows down, fragments, rhythmizes, and elongates the movements, giving them an unexpected beauty and elegance – only to rage and erupt again in the next moment. Images of revolts, protests and demonstrations emerge and the dancer takes them over and makes them her own. Iconic gestures like the raised fist of the Black Power movement proclaim the assault on unjust conditions. On this stage, Huby is an angry woman, and she brings to the stage as witnesses all the angry women of the past and present, from Clytemnestra to Joan of Arc to Rosa Parks and Audre Lorde. Together with them, the work poses the question of a fundamental and radical transformation.
