Contemporary ballet A class that combines ballet technique and contemporary dance, the warm-up begins with improvisation exercises to explore the three-dimensionality of the body in space. The exercises at the barre range from simple to complex, using movement sequences that expand in their relationship to space by changing dynamics and position, serving to sharpen one's sense of movement. Richard uses his interest in different musical styles to develop qualities of movement and rhythm within the combinations. The class explores ballet technique in contemporary dance as a tool, giving participants more freedom of movement and awareness of their own movement potential.
