Imagine a person in a ballet or contemporary dance piece. Are you thinking of a non-white person? A dancer who is not very thin? A disabled person? What images come to mind? What spaces could emerge if we would break away from normative ideas? The mixed-abled team T.I.A. with the Frankfurt-based choreographer Amelia Uzategui Bonilla dares to take a critical and loving break from the William Forsythe‘s “thrill of exactitude.” In an interdisciplinary and intercultural exchange, they try out new forms of artistic collaboration and ask how dance can work beyond the visual level. Together with a sighted, blind and visually impaired cast, they create a poetic, musical space that dissolves hierarchies of perception and invites the audience to experience dance in its many facets and thrills with expanded senses.
