AlphaZTL Compagnia d’Arte Dinamica AlphaZTL was founded in Brindisi, Italy, in 2016 under the visionary leadership of choreographer and artistic director Vito Alfarano. The company operates on an international scale, focusing on artistic projects that address social issues through contemporary dance and a range of other creative expressions. AlphaZTL specializes in dance performances, video dance, social videos, documentaries, exhibitions, and social and European projects. The organization collaborates with professional dancers as well as individuals often marginalized in society, including prisoners, asylum seekers, and people with diverse abilities. By engaging with underexplored contexts, AlphaZTL amplifies the voices of minorities affected by prejudice and works to dismantle barriers to social integration.

Hikikomori is a Japanese term that literally means „to be on the sidelines“ and the performance represents the choice of those who decide to marginalise the surrounding reality by closing themselves in their own room. Uninterested in the noises, lights, voices of others. Abstraction and estrangement. A chosen solitude that, unpredictably, turns out to be shared with other peers. What are the stages? What are the causes? What are the remedies? In the meantime, let’s open the room and go inside: do they deserve our blame or our understanding?
