großBkleinG – Of Huts and Palaces “großBkleinG – Of Huts and Palaces” is an open-air music theatre performance, set right in the heart of the KGV Bockenheim allotment garden. Between garden beds and sheds, the allotment becomes a stage for big questions: about community and exclusion, land and a sense of home, rules and freedom. Together with gardeners, performers, a string quartet, and a brass band, the “Untere Reklamationsbehörde” (Lower Claims Authority) explores the allotment garden as a form of social architecture. We delve into the turbulent history of the allotment garden, tell stories of encounters across garden fences, listen to microscopic soundscapes, plant speakers in raised beds, dig through tales of rootedness and fresh sowings together with the audience, and discover the everyday magic hidden in the critical engagement with our own small piece of “nature.”
