In Car Walk, a group of performers dances with a car in an empty parking lot. With the handbrake unfastened, they push the heavy body of the vehicle back and forth as it becomes an unlikely dance partner and stage. Step by step they begin to explore the movement options made possible by the car – climb up, over and through their unlikely teammate, push, pull the car, hang from the roof – and become bolder, riskier, increase the danger of their actions. Images and affects surrounding cars and mobility flash up: departure, pollution, desire, freedom, accident, death... And open up a space for thinking about movement, logistics and mobility, our relationship to technology, transport and energy.
