"Everyone leads a double life", said the Dutch sociologist Fred L. Polak in 1961. Today, on the other hand, we are on the move in countless platforms, spaces, places and encounter a multitude of people on- and offline. Our ego seems to consist of a mosaic of identities - always available, always present. In Burnt, the duo LEE/VAKULYA, consisting of the dancer Chen-Wei Lee and the dancer Vakulya Zoltan, addresses this state of exhaustion of constant presence and simultaneous existences. Together with two dancers and the sound artist Gryllus Abris, they have developed a multi-layered piece that confronts the audience with contradictory and simultaneously effective qualities of movement. Speed builds up while it decays. The choreography is reminiscent of a floating boat - always in motion, never centred and always at the mercy of the changing waves. A state that eventually debilitates and takes away time and space for one's own creative development.
