The performance is for young people aged 14 and over and adults. It will be performed in German and English. Content warning: The performance tells body stories. These contain indirect and explicit mentions of eating disorders, body shaming, sexism, ableism, psychological and sexualised violence.
You can see a section of a dance studio with a black floor. Pink-coloured woollen threads hang from the ballet barres.
We are surrounded by body images. We are constantly looking at ourselves and other bodies in the mirror, in our mobile phone cameras, on social media, and we are constantly confronted with body images: Body images that we have of ourselves, that we think we should have, that society has of us. What does it mean to have a body that is read as female in a patriarchal, capitalist society? Who or what influences it? Who am I in my body? ARCHEOLOGY OF BODY HISTORIES tells body stories from different female perspectives: movement, text, voice and image interweave to create a participatory spatial installation in which the audience is invited to participate in different ways. Please bring your smartphone and headphones!
Concept, choreography, performance, text and space: Lena Kunz
Outside-Eye and performance: Hannah Krebs
Supported by the Young Performing Arts Promotion Programme of the City of Wiesbaden.
